june. still blogging about june, you guys!

on this particular day, we decided to pick a new spot to park in at this huge park in queens and let the path guide us to new to us places. we picnicked, we ran, we explored, we fought with the kiddies and made up there. it was the best decision.

Pre-K Stepping Up

IMG_1810 IMG_1811 IMG_1826 IMG_1827

at the end of this past june, nelson and i attended our little jonathan’s pre-k stepping up ceremony. he sang the cutest little songs and recited the sweetest little sayings. our hearts swelled with so much love and pride and suddenly a whole school year’s worth of struggles proved to be worth it. somehow we got through the first year of school.

As Summer Ends…

as summer comes to an end, i find myself back here only to realize that it’s been 3 months since my last update and even longer since my last grow posts. the good news is, there was so much fun happening during all the time that i’ve been missing that there is much to catch up on. but with this blog really turning into our virtual photo album, i make no promises with timelines anymore, cause….well, clearly i don’t keep up!

so here are a few more images from our poconos trip in june i had always intended on using for my boy’s grow posts with a few updates.

i last updated jonathan at 4 years 9 months. he is currently 5 years 2 months old now. his maturity has made its biggest jumps. he’s shown himself to be such a compassionate little boy and i am such a proud mama. he is by no means the most calm, cool and level headed boy out there, but i do think he’s perfect in his own way.

brandon’s last update took place at 2 years 5 months. he is now 2 years 10 months old. he’s taller, talking so much and always growing more and more into a little boy and refusing the stay the baby i miss so much. but he amazes me daily and proves to me that there is definitely something to be said about babies not keeping.

now, while the ages of the boys described do not correlate with the ages the boys are in the images posted above, i will say that i plan on going back in time to get this blog back in chronological order. once i’ve caught up, i hope to get back into the swing of things and perhaps even become a legit blogger! (ha!)

Poconos Part 3

we didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity of actually enjoying the warmth and sun, so bright and early we made it out to the lake. this time i deemed it warm enough to kayak and gave the boys a ride too.

later on we packed up, loaded the car and went out back for a few more pictures. it was father’s day and i was not going to pass up such a gorgeous backdrop.

we then said our goodbyes, hit the road and tucked away the fun memories safely in out hearts and minds.

Poconos Part 2

the boys woke us up ready to tackle the day with their cousins. they were so excited that the “family sleepover” was under way. we went to down, had breakfast and when the littles went off to play in the game loft with their beloved nana, nelson and i snuck in a mini coffee date overlooking the lake.

it only took a few minutes before the kids realized that there were adults by the lake and despite the cold temperatures, they came on down to play on the lawn, at the beach and to skip some stones on the water. soon enough, nelson deemed it necessary to go into the open water in the kayak and everyone else couldn’t wait to get a turn….except for me. it was freezing! my brother-in-law and nelson took over pushing the kiddies in the kayak parallel to the shore while all the other kiddies kept the toes wet in the lake.

later on in the evening, the cold weather seemed perfect for a little fire on the beach. after diner we got into our sweaters, brought along our blankets and all the fixings for some s’mores. it was the perfect first bonfire, not just for the kids but for me too. brandon fell asleep in my arms, jonathan in nelson’s and the adults enjoyed talking the night away while adding more wood to the flames…

Poconos Part 1

we planned and organized a family getaway and finally the day came to hit the road and head on to the poconos mountains for a relaxing weekend retreat. we were the first to arrive at the house, and once it stopped pouring rain we set out to discover the grounds we’d been dying to explore for a few months now.

gosh it was beautiful. and you’d think my city boys were born and raised on this beautiful lakefront property! throwing rocks into the grassy puddles, rolling around on the wet sand, trying to touch the fish in the lake and wanting the ducks to come close to them. i’ll admit nelson had to remind me a time or two that they were just doing what children do and that it was okay for them to do it.

we had such an amazing time with the rest of the family, but these first couple of hours alone on the property was the perfect start to an unforgettable weekend. there are so many images that i must post, that i will be back soon with more images of our family trip.

Stephanie’s Bridal Shower Fiesta

my gorgeous cousin is getting married soon. her mom, sisters and future in-laws helped fete her with an amazing bridal shower fiesta. i was in personal heaven….mexican food and drinks? i’m there! add to that the fact that i was able to leave my boys at home and just have a grande time with the ladies in my family and you can call it an amazing time.

the decor was on point, the food was delicious and everyone there just wanted to celebrate the bride to be. the place was just full of love for a very deserving woman.
